The Challenge

Destination Golf connected with us to bring a new golf travel magazine to market. This required name generation, logo and brand creation and a web presence along with layout and styling design of their first magazine template. The challenge was to make this new brand authentic and be able to compete with more established golf travel competitors. We have had the privilege of working with Destination Golf directly for over 10 years helping them grow from a small local brand into a recognised and respected global leader in their sector.

The Solution

We started by a brand scoping session with the client to decide and prioritise tasks required, we created a logo and a set of accreditations for course rankings. The brand had to be flexible and easy to add extra locations when required. A style guide including colour palette, typography selection and photography treatment was presented, refined and agreed. Social media channels were then set up and activated reflecting the new style and brand direction.

After the brand style, logo and strategy were agreed, we quickly moved on to present a few options for the new magazine layout design. We wanted these to be clean, easy-to-read and modern to the reader. We opted to use large format images of courses to make the magazine more visually appealing. To date, we have produced over 50 magazines both in print and digital format and won first place at the prestigious World Golf Awards for the ‘Best Golf Travel Magazine’ category.

Cleaning Up

We have also designed and developed 4 iterations of the website over the last decade. Keeping the website up-to-date as technology and digital capabilities have developed. The current multi-language website boasts of 38 geo-location and sub-sites translated into over 32 different languages with the potential to promote location-specific 3rd party advertising in selected countries and time zones. We structurally designed the new site in a way that the content team is only required to update the master site, original articles/edits are automatically pushed to all subsites and translated into their relevant languages. We created a bespoke plugin to achieve this while saving time and money for our client. These features have helped position Destination Golf as the number one market leader in Global Golf Travel.
